| Strategic Overview |
|
The program begins with an initial meeting (at no cost). Here you will be provided with an overview of the hiring process. This includes how hiring decisions
are made, what happens to your resume once it is submitted, the role of the resume as a risk reduction document, on-line job searches and applications,
competition and personal branding. Widely held myths are debunked. The way in which the human resource hiring culture works and how to work the culture to
your advantage is explained. Many people have a phobia toward interviews, supported by the fact that many candidates do not sleep well the night before. So,
expect to leave this meeting with a sigh of relief as you begin to understand how to prepare and use the interview as a tool that supports your career goal.
Once enrolled into the program, the first tactical component is to reconstruct your resume. Most resumes are self-centered and therefore are rejected early in the process. Your reconstruction will include a 360 assessment. This tool is used to gather perceptions about you from your peers, managers, past managers, co-workers, vendors, clients and anyone else who you are professionally acquainted with. This is an essential opening to any resume aiming to influence the hiring decision. A hiring manager is more interested in how other people see you rather than how you see yourself or what your objective might be! All managers are under pressure, so the purpose of hiring someone is to alleviate some of that pressure. With rank comes privilege and that privilege is called delegation. So, your resume must contain and communicate the essential information that convinces a hiring manager you are a person with the ability to absorb pressures, tackle problems, take action and find solutions. The reconstruction of your resume passes through several edits between your career coach and you. Once finalized, it becomes a powerful and influential document that represents you well in your absence. You will become intimate with your resume and know how to use it as a risk reduction document and as a powerful and compelling sales tool. At the next meeting you will be provided with the specific tactical approach that enables you to begin the job search process in a manner that puts you in command of your career. You will use SMART goals and SALES tactics to expedite your success. Some of the effective habits created by Dr. Stephen Covey are used, as are the thinking methods of Dr. Edward de Bono. All these tools will come together for your benefit. Ultimately we want to elicit quality job offers expeditiously. The coaching continues once you have gone ‘live’ with your resume and initiated your strategy .You’ll have unlimited access to your coach through meetings, emails, video-conferencing and telephone. Doing things differently requires encouragement and support. To this end you can be assured your coach has all the tools necessary to make sure you stay sharp and focused and achieve your goals by getting the job you really want, on your own terms. |
